A region that knows chemicals and polymers
South Central Ohio’s JEDISO Region has extensive experience and familiarity with ethane gas, chemicals, and polymers. Ohio is America’s largest producer of polymer and plastics, as well as the Midwest’s largest consumer of polyolefin. And our state is fast becoming a major ethylene market, with one cracker already under construction and others in development.
What makes our region such an ideal site for companies involved in chemical and polymer production? A major point of attraction is our central location and extensive network of transportation operations, making it easy to reach more than 176 million consumers within a single-day, 600-mile, truck drive. Thanks to a network of Interstate-caliber divided highways in every direction with fast access to Interstates 64, 70, 71, and 77, you’ll be in excellent shape to meet your customers’ needs. For larger shipments, we have sites with direct rail service and access to truck-to-train transload sites -- as well as port access to the nation and world via the Ohio River and Lake Erie.
Just as important, our local workforce is familiar with chemicals and polymers operations. The region’s education providers keep the area’s workforce pipeline sustainable through a wide variety of education and training programs. At the K-12 and postsecondary levels, educators focus on preparing young people for success in the local economy by helping them develop and sharpen skills in fields such as industrial maintenance, engineering, plastics engineering management, building and property maintenance, and bioenergy.
You’ll also find that our area’s utility providers have the capacity your company needs at remarkably affordable rates. In particular, the region has access to massive amounts of fresh water to support production.
